Overview

BNW has continued to monitor the progress of the 3020 Gilmore Diversion Shelter project in response to concerns raised by nearby residents regarding community safety, project operations, and the impact on the surrounding neighbourhood.

BNW has engaged with the City of Burnaby and BC Housing to seek timely updates, improve communication with residents, and promote transparency regarding the project’s planning, construction, and future operations.

Progress Update

In June 2026, BNW received updates from the City of Burnaby and BC Housing regarding the project’s approval and construction status. The City confirmed that a Preliminary Plan Approval (PPA) application had been submitted for the change of use, while no tenant improvement building permit application had been received as of June 17, 2026.

BC Housing confirmed that interior demolition work had been completed and that renovation work had experienced delays.

BNW will continue to monitor the project’s progress, including future plans for the building, community safety considerations, and the responsible use of public resources, while keeping residents informed as new information becomes available.
