Overview

In April 2026, following reports that the Burnaby School District faced a $9.4 million funding shortfall, BNW met with the Burnaby District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) to discuss the issue and support community advocacy.

BNW called for full provincial funding and greater accountability to protect Burnaby students, classrooms, and support services.

Outcome

In May 2026, local MLAs announced that the Province approved the full $9.4 million required, ensuring schools and student services would not face budget cuts.
